Driveaway is an insurance cover from Norwich Union Direct for all customers purchasing a new or used car or van from a registered dealer. This superb benefit provides 7 days' free comprehensive insurance cover, subject to you meeting the terms and conditions and removes the hassle of arranging your insurance before collecting your new vehicle.
First ask your salesperson for your new vehicle's registration number, their unique dealer code and the date from which the 7 days' insurance should start from i.e. the date you will collect your vehicle.
Then simply call 0800 015 1392 to set up your free 7 day Driveaway policy for your new car or call 0800 404 6908 to set up your free 7 day Driveaway policy for your new van. You will also receive a no-obligation annual insurance quotation. The call centre is open Mon-Fri 8am-10pm, Sat 9am-6pm and Sun & Bank Holidays 10am-4pm. The adviser will give you a quote reference number and arrange for your 7 day cover note to be emailed to your dealer so that your cover note will be ready for you to collect when you pick up your new vehicle.
Once your dealer has received the vehicle cover note, it will enable the vehicle to be taxed. Your 7-day Driveaway cover will be activated from your agreed collection date, allowing you to 'Driveaway' your new vehicle.
If you decide to take advantage of the Norwich Union Direct annual insurance policy you can arrange for your cover to start on day 8 (straight after your 7 days free cover runs out). Alternatively your annual insurance quotation is valid for 60 days so you can always decide to take up the offer within that time. And remember, if you do have to make a claim you will benefit from Norwich Union's claim service, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
